Reference electrodes are divided into: portable reference electrodes and long-lasting reference electrodes.Portable copper sulfate reference electrode is suitable for field use and is mainly used for measuring the natural potential and cathodic protection potential of marine environments and underground metal pipelines, determining the stray current in soil, and also used for determining the potential of cable metal sheath and steel reinforcement in concrete. This electrode can also be used as a reference electrode for controlling the potential in the external current cathodic protection system in areas with sticky soil.
The buried long-term reference electrode is usually buried in the soil to measure the potential of the protected structure.

Long-acting buried reference electrode
he portable copper sulfate reference electrode is suitable for field use. It is mainly used to measure the natural potential and cathodic protection potential of seawater environment and underground metal pipes, to measure stray current in soil, and also to measure the potential of steel bars in cable metal sheathing and concrete. The electrode can be used as a reference electrode for controlling potential in impressed current cathodic protection system where the soil is sticky.
Buried long-term reference electrodes are generally embedded in soil to measure the potential of protected structures.
